Ek Nayi Pehchaan is a story about a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in an affluent Indian household. The story follows Suresh Modi, the owner of Sharda Textiles, and his wife Sharda, who is illiterate and struggles with self-confidence. Sakshi helps Sharda become literate and independent, leading to her success in starting a small business. The story also reveals that Suresh has two other children, Shanaya and Arav, born out of wedlock with another woman, Pallavi. When Pallavi dies, her will leaves equal property to all five Modi children. Shanaya accuses Sharda of manipulated Pallavi, but Sakshi and Sharda prevent her from causing a rift. The show ends on a happy note with Sakshi announcing her pregnancy.
